GUILFORD, CT -- Clifford Beers, the leading provider of affordable behavioral health services in Greater New Haven, announces today the opening of its new clinic at 1575 Boston Post Road, Suite C, Building B.
Located just off I-95 x.57, this is both a change in location and an expansion of services to better serve Shoreline residents. Previously, Clifford Beers maintained a smaller space with less capacity farther south in town.
“The Shoreline is a special place,” said Dr. Alice Forrester, CEO, Clifford Beers. “We are happy to have this opportunity to become more a part of the community fabric.”
Forces driving the move included the need to accommodate more folks who need care.
“Like many communities, there are people along the Shoreline who have behavioral health needs but don’t know where to turn for help,” said Forrester. “We welcome the chance to serve them so that together we can build stronger, more resilient children, families and communities.”
The clinic will deliver trauma-informed care but will also be able to refer clients for care within the Clifford Beers system of care as well as to other providers, as needed.
Christine Montgomery, LCSW, VP of Clinical & Community-Based Care, added, “We do find from time to time that someone can be better served by a specialized location, for example our Hamden Marne Street Clinic for those with autism or an intellectual/developmental disability. Having that centrally located clinic in our network has been a great help to families across the State of Connecticut, and we expect that will be a great connection to make for families along the Shoreline.”
Across all divisions, Clifford Beers aims to provide comfort, community and consistency that improves quality of life and addresses things such as social isolation, problem behavior, depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder. “For those we serve,” said Montgomery, “we are committed to helping them achieve their best mental health and wellness. We’re thrilled to be able to bring that to the Shoreline community.”
