Good News in Connecticut

To our families we serve and all of those affected by COVID-19,

Times are hard, and we at Clifford Beers want to spread some positivity by sharing stories of people helping people across Connecticut. We hope the stories below inspire and move you the way they did for us.

1) A $600,000 relief fund has been launched by Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology (ConnCAT). The drive aims to provide direct financial assistance to families in the Dixwell and Newhallville neighborhoods of New Haven by raising $100,000 a month for the next six months in partnership with Elm City Communities and the Housing Authority of New Haven. 2) The Goodwill of West and Northern Connecticut (GWNC) partnered with Soapy Suds Laundromat in Hartford to clean and donate over 650 scrubs to Hartford Healthcare. Goodwill staff searched through the racks of 22 closed retail stores for the donations. Read more

3) Yale New Haven Hospital has successfully treated and discharged over 1,000 patients who tested positive for COVID-19. Read more

4) In response to the disproportionate rates of COVID-19 cases in communities of color, the city of New Haven has opened three new COVID-19 testing sites in neighborhoods that need it most--read more about it here. Read more

5) New Haven Links, Inc. will be donating 2,000 masks to New Haven Housing Authority Tenants. Read more
